Schneeberg is afar 20 km south-east of Zwickau and about 30 km northern from the Czech border. Our town is very influenced of special customs and traditions of the miners since many centuries. It offers - jointly with its surroundings - many opportunities to walk (e.g. Fichtelberg 1214 m), to go swimming in the summer and winter-time (e.g. bathing-beach Filzteich, Radiumbad Schlema), a baroque old town with our Saint-Wolfgang-Cathedral (Lucas-Cranach-Altar), museums, mines for tourists, Erzgebirgish popular art (e.g. carving and making lace) besides winter sports (e.g. ski).
