The house in which you stay can accommodate 4 to 6 people. It is situated in the upper part of a small mountainvillage (400 inhabitants. It has a large hallway, 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom on the ground floor, a living room with open kitchen and a small bathroom on the first floor. It is furnished in a very comfortable way, with a tastful mixture of old and modern furniture and with a surprising and large bathroom and with all modern conveniences (with central heating, no air conditioning). Total capacity is 6 persons: one bedroom with a double bed and 1 bedroom with twin beds; 1 futon to be used in the livingroom or on the roof terrace (kids do like to sleep on the roof!) (1m30 in width). Two large terraces with a South-West orientation, give spectacular views over the lower part of the village, with a picturesque church, and over the mountains (Sierra Nevada and Alpujarras)and the lake. The house is ideal for those who prefer countrylife and who likes to walk.
The house is located in the lush Valle de Lecrín, a place with a great past. It is said that Boabdil, the last of the Moorish kings, buried his wife and his mother in the valley.
The beautiful Moorish Alhambra palace in Granada is just 30 km away. Its marvellous garden is worth a visit, especially during spring when it is in full bloom; in the summer, its imaginative trick fountains make sure the air is refreshingly cool.
From the valley, you have easy access to the mountain chain of the Alpujarras, much appreciated by hikers and climbers. The villages are easily reached by car, their shops offer a wide range of regional produce: goat cheese, olives, wine and honey as well as typical carpets and basketry. Every Thursday morning, there is a street market in Orgiva, the capital town of the Alpujarras.
But the sea is not far away either: Motril is only 30 km south of Chite, a town with beautiful beaches and a lively market every Friday evening. Almuñecar, a beach resort with mainly Spanish tourists, is well worth another trip, especially on August 15, when brilliant fireworks light the sky above the sea.
Lots of activities in the region: golf courses, pools, horse back riding, tennis, historic sites and beautiful surroundings...
The nearest airport is Granada, but if you travel from Belgium, you’ll get cheaper flights to Malaga or Almeria, both about 170 km away from Chite. Most of our visitors travel through Malaga, to take advantage of the many car rental services at the airport which offer attractive prices if you book via the Internet.
