La Certosina is only a few kilometres away from the historic centre of Lucca. You reach the small village of Formentale which lies on smooth hill within a road by passing big green fields and the monastery Certosa. Formentale was a former settlement of the Certosa’s fraternity – today it is a characteristic hamlet surrounded by a olive grove and fruit-trees. This carefully restored “rustico” lies in a small group of houses, on a quiet spot and with splendid views onto the plain of Lucca. The house is divided in two apartments of which one was converted into a spacious and cosy holiday home. To have stroll in the near nature, to visit the most important art towns of Tuscany, to relax at the beaches of the Versilia or to taste local specialities are only a few reasons why you will love this area.
Within an external staircase (6 steps) access to the 1st floor: a small terrace equipped with table, chairs and sun-umbrella, entrance: spacious living room with couch and upholstered furniture, dining table, fire-place, TV and video, kitchen made of bricks, with an antique sink made of marble, stove, oven, fridge/freezer, 1 room which remains locked, wooden stairs to the 2nd floor: 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, 1 single bedroom, 1 bathroom with tub/shower, wc, bidet., 1 bathroom with shower, wc/bidet, 1 room which remains locked. The apartment on the ground floor is sometimes used by the owner. The guests have a lovely garden (400 sqm) at their disposal, completely fenced and equipped with a table and chairs, deckchairs, barbeque and external oven just to make maximum use of living and dining “al fresco”.
