The village of Piding lies almost on the border of Austria and only 10 km from Salzburg. It is in the middle of the Berchtesgadenerland. As you would expect from these surroundings, it offers fabulous walks through the Alps on both the German and the Austrian side. The region has been a protected nature reserve for many years. It is the only alpine area of Germany with unique flora and fauna such as edelweiss and ibex. You will also find crystal-clear mountain lakes, all well worth a visit. The Kongssee in Schonau is the most well known. Piding is centrally positioned and only 2 km from Bad Reichenhall. It will offer the two of you much to enjoy.
