Villa Angelica is situated in Oprtalj, picturesque little town in the north western part of Istria, sited on the crest of a hill with spectacular views. Oprtalj is known back from the 12th century as urban residence of the feudal lords. The settlement has conserved its medieval disposition with smaller squares and alleys. Beside St.George's Church dating from the 15th century, your interest will be attracted by the other churches and chapels with well preserved murals from the medieval masters. In this area are also situated Zrenj, well known it the past times for its excellent forgers and carvers, and the thermal resort in St. Stephan, famous for its mineral waters spring. All this area is world known for truffles, tubers of specific taste and smell that are imputed aphrodisiac attributes.
