Domain "Castello del Trebbio" in San Piero a Sieve (Florence, Toscany)
Over the green hilly landscape of the Mugello rises majestically the Castello del Trebbio. The Castello was built around the year 1100, its tower however is dated of the 7th century. Between 1427 and 1430 it was restored on behalf of Cosimo de Medici by the famous Florentiner architect Michelozzo Michelozzi. Surrounded by high cypresses, it is located in a beautiful Italian garden with a Pergola from the 14th century. The Castello was not only residence and hunting seat, but also a large agriculture center. The farmhouses around the Castello del Trebbio lie in the midst of vineyards and olive-groves. They form an ideal basis in order to explore the region.
